Park-Blue Bay

Blue bay Marine Park situated in southeast of Mauritius is framed on one side by Le Shandrani Hotel, Blue Lagoon Hotel, and the runway of the international airport, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport. Sitting snugly on top of the marine park is 'Ile des Deux Cocos,' an islet within the lagoon, of 4.22 hectares.

The area around Blue Bay has been a long-established favorite consisting of tourists known for its magnificant beaches and crystal-clear waters. Most of the south coast has no beach which thankfully resulting in limiting hotel construction for most part. One significant recent development was the building of three large luxury hotels on the quondam sugar estate of Bel Ombre. This was followed in 2006 by the availability of another big luxury hotel in the nearby hamlet of St Felix. These contribute to the area’s economy, but, many fear, will also mean Mauritius’ most unspoiled corner will serially become more like the rest of the island.

However, when you are in Blue Bay residential area, you can walk comfortably from your hotels or villas to the beach since the area is not wide and it is less dense. This makes Blue Bay unique and serene for ultimate relaxation.

The Blue Bay Marine Park is a must! There, rare corals and fish species are at a depth of 5.5 meters and there are more than 50 different species of corals that are discovered and more than 80% are alive.

Additionally, for those interested in recreational activities, an extensive range of land and water sports is available including, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, windsurfing, kayaking, pedalies ( peddle/paddle boats, hydro-bikes), snorkeling, mini sailboats, deep sea fishing and diving.

The Blue Bay Marine Park is now protected by the government, due to constant degradation of the marine environment left by urbanization and the tourism industry.
